About This Project
OCRAI – Document Processing is an intelligent document automation solution designed to eliminate the manual effort associated with processing faxed documents. Built using Microsoft Power Platform, AI Builder, Azure Functions, and SharePoint, the solution automates the entire document lifecycle from email ingestion to document classification, reconstruction, storage, and notification. The platform monitors incoming emails containing fax attachments and automatically initiates a processing workflow. Multi-page PDF documents are separated into individual pages and analyzed using OCR and AI technologies to extract critical information such as person names, document titles, document dates, and confidence scores. Advanced document grouping logic evaluates page relationships and intelligently determines which pages belong together, ensuring that complete documents are reconstructed accurately. The solution leverages custom AI models and Python-based Azure Functions to classify, group, and merge related pages while maintaining the correct sequence and document structure. Once processing is complete, finalized documents are automatically stored in SharePoint and made available to users through automated email notifications. By automating document intake, classification, extraction, grouping, and storage, OCRAI significantly improves processing speed, reduces human error, increases document accuracy, and enables organizations to manage large volumes of faxed records efficiently.
The Challenge
The organization received large volumes of faxed documents through email that required manual review, sorting, grouping, and filing. The solution automatically receives fax attachments through email, splits documents into individual pages, extracts key metadata using OCR and AI, classifies pages through confidence-based grouping logic, and reconstructs complete documents through automated merging processes. Processed documents are stored in SharePoint and made available through automated notification workflows, providing a fully automated and scalable document management solution.
